Abstract

Every year millions of tonnes of wheat, barley, and rice straw as well as a wide range of tropical and subtropical crops residues such as maize, sugar cane, cotton, groundnuts, citrus, grapes and cocoa go to waste. These materials can now be transformed into valuable feed materials for ruminant and other farm animals. The animals can convert these residues produce more food for human consumption while release land for alternative crops. No chemical treatment of raw materials needs to be involved
