Abstract

During a study of three isolates of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus, it was found that the mean plaque diameters of the Strichen and Colorado strains were significantly greater than that of the Oxford strain although the plaques were similar morphologically. Comparison of the growth curves of the three strains failed to reveal any significant differences. The bovine and rabbit Strichen antisera neutralised the heterologous Colorado and Oxford strains significantly faster than they did the homologous virus. These findings indicate that the Strichen strain of virus ls antigenically different from the prototype British strain (Oxford)
